Amy Spadafore - Managing Director

Amy was born and raised in Saginaw County.  She holds a BS in Arts Management from Western Michigan University and after graduating spent two years in Miami, FL as the Resident Stage Manager and Director of Marketing and Development for the Alliance Theatre Lab.  Amy was an active Pit & Balcony volunteer prior to taking the helm in 2016 and is a member of the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs 2019 class of Rising Leaders. Amy is thoroughly engaged with the arts community and enjoys advocating for arts and culture initiatives on local, regional, and state levels. In her spare time Amy enjoys cooking, painting, camping, and spending as much time as possible with her loyal sidekick, Orville the Theatre Pug - who everyone knows is the real boss around here.


Deb Korf - Office Manager

Deborah Korf is from Chesaning, MI where she was born and raised and still lives.  Deb is approaching her sixth year with Pit and Balcony as Office Manager, a job that she just loves!

Her past experience includes 13 years as the office manager/sales assistant at Four Points by Sheraton in Saginaw, MI, 5 years as a Client Service Professional at H&R Block and 13 years as a dining room manager at the Chesaning Heritage House, a large upscale restaurant.  In her free time Deb enjoys spending time with her grandchildren. 


Jonah Conner - Administrative Intern

Jonah was born and raised in Warren, Michigan.  She holds a BA in Theatre from SVSU and after graduating became the Head of Education and Directing Intern for Millbrook Playhouse in Pennsylvania.  In his spare time Jonah enjoys Reading, running, camping, and learning everything there is to possibly know about Batman.


Board of Directors


David A. Lyman, PhD – Board President

Dave Lyman is an Industrial/Organizational psychologist who has been active in the arts since his first public vocal performance in kindergarten. He has a BA from Dakota Wesleyan University with a double major in psychology and sociology with a music minor. From the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, he has an MA in Educational Psychology and Measurements and a PhD in Counseling Psychology. 

Currently he is Lead Faculty in Process Improvement for Managers at the DeVos Graduate School in Northwood University. He is President of the Board for Pit and Balcony and was previously President of the Board of the Saginaw Choral Society for 5 years. He is married to Nancy Parker the President and Executive Director of the Saginaw Children’s Zoo.



Andrew Talik – Vice President

Andrew was born and raised in Saginaw.  He attended Alma College earning a BS in Chemistry with a minor in Theatre.  He is the Corporate Trainer/Database Administrator for Brady's Business Systems.  His time away from the theatre left him wanting to get involved and joining the board was the best way he felt he could help. 


Mark Ginter – Treasurer

Mark lives in Midland and is a construction project manager for Servpro of Saginaw He holds a B.S. from CMU and an M.B.A from Northwood University. In his spare time Mark enjoys volunteering at the Midland County Humane Society, writing and producing a web series with his friends and working in his garage (usually with his dogs). Mark joined the P&B board because he believes that the arts bring depth and beauty to our live and that community-based arts are essential to creating a diverse and accessible experience.


Jackie Keyser – Secretary, Marketing Committee Chair

Jackie Keyser resides in Saginaw, where she was born and raised. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Spanish from Saginaw Valley State University, and a Master of Arts in Public Relations from Michigan State University. Jackie is the marketing project manager at MidMichigan Health, where she has worked for the past five years, and serves on Pit & Balcony Theatre’s Board of Directors as secretary and chair of the marketing committee. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, cooking and reading.


Chad William Baker – Board Member, Social Media Chair

Chad was born and raised in the Flint area and made his way up to the Great Lakes Bay to attend Saginaw Valley State University, earning a BA in Theatre in 2011. He returned to the Saginaw area in 2013 after spending a year and a half as a touring actor/puppeteer for Madcap Puppets in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was elected to the Board of Directors in 2015, where he has been Social Media Chair and a member of the play selection committee. Chad is also an actor and director, appearing onstage in productions with Pit and Balcony and Midland Center for the Arts and directing productions with Pit, Passion Theatre Group, and Bay City Players. He was also recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Community Theatre Association of Michigan, representing both Pit and Balcony and the Great Lakes Bay at the state level. 


Jeff Carpenter – Board Member

Jeff resides in Saginaw, Michigan. He has a Bachelor of Arts & Masters of Communication & Digital Media Graphic Design from Saginaw Valley State University. Jeff has been an adjunct faculty member at Delta College for over 20 years, and has managed a small business in Saginaw since 2004. His primary skills involved Graphic Design, Videography and Photography. Prior to running his own business, he was the graphic artist for The Midland Center for the Arts, and has loved theater ever since. Couldn't quite bring himself to being on stage, but rather behind the scenes, where he can perform his skills in the arts. He has four kids and is married to his wife for over 22 years.

Steve Hensley – Board Member, Fund Development Committee Chair

Steve Hensley is a lifelong resident of Saginaw. Steve graduated from Saginaw Valley State University where he earned a BA in Communication and double minors in Business and English. Professionally, Steve is the program director for the Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce, where he helps to build community relationships, advocate for small business, and lead the Saginaw Valley Young Professionals Network.

Steve is also currently on the board of directors for Rescue Ministries of Mid-Michigan. His past involvements include serving as a volunteer and fundraiser for United Way of Saginaw County, the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra, the American Cancer Society, and is a past board member for Junior Achievement of North Central Michigan. In order to help advance the quality of life and a sense of place - Steve asserts that community theatre is a catalyst to inspiring people, cultivating harmony while helping establish a more educated society. In his personal time, Steve and his wife are avid hockey fans as they enjoy attending Saginaw Spirit hockey games, experiencing new foods, biking, and traveling north to the Traverse City area.

Danielle Katsoulos – Board Member

As an SVSU theatre and Spanish education Alumni, Danielle has performed in over 50 theatrical productions, facilitated workshops at several theatre camps and national conferences, and has directed various productions throughout Michigan. She has served as Play Selection Committee Chair, Youth Advisory Council Facilitator, and currently serves on the Board of directors at Pit & Balcony Theatre. When not performing in or directing shows, Danielle is teaching Spanish to grades K-8, teaching ESL to business professionals in Costa Rica, singing in her band, or spending time with her family and friends.


Chris Rohde – Board Member

Chris was born and raised in a small Saginaw County town called Hemlock. Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in management as well as a master’s degree in business administration from Northwood University. Chis has had the opportunity to work for (formerly) Dow Chemical for 5 years and currently works as a manager for Consumers Energy. In his spare time, Chris enjoys traveling around the world visiting friends and experiencing local cultures. He also is known for doing consulting work for small businesses to help them grow and prosper.


Mary Madigan Spadafore – Board Member, Play Selection Committee Chair

Mary is a retired teacher of the Deaf, has been married for 40 years, and is the mother of 2 grown children.  Mary serves on the play selection committee at Pit & Balcony, and she volunteers as the unofficial gardener, a very occasional actor, and performer of various odd jobs around the theatre.  Outside of her work with Pit & Balcony, Mary serves as treasurer with her chapter of the philanthropic organization of Psi Iota Xi Sorority, volunteers with the after school program at First Ward Community Center in Saginaw, and is a life member of the University of Michigan Alumni Association.


Lauren Zehnder – Board Member, Fund Development Committee Vice Chair

Lauren is the Director of Operations at Zehnder’s Splash Village Hotel and Waterpark and joined the Board of Directors of Pit and Balcony in 2019. She grew up in Frankenmuth, MI and has always had a love for theater and the arts. Lauren holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Business from Michigan State University and recently completed her Masters of Business Administration at Northwood University in Midland. In her free time, Lauren enjoys cooking, eating, traveling, reading, and exploring the great outdoors.
